"
The Story of the Fresh Air Home: A Century of Caring" 1994
" Sometime if you sit quiet, even when the Home is empty, you can hear the
echo of children's voices. The chatter and laughter of children has filled
the Home for over 80 years. It is as old as the foundation. In fact,
I bet if the echoes of laughter left, the Home itself would surely crumble.
Some
of my fondest memories are in this Home, in the walls, and in the windows.
I, too have added my share of laughter to the echoes. I know each room
as though it were my own. They are not only mine, though; these rooms
and hallways belong to everyone who has ever walked them, to those who
have ever slept in the beds, whom ever has sat in the chairs. They too,
are part of the Home.

I
see the Lord living here, living in these rooms. He is the cornerstone
here. He is the reason for the laughter, for the singing, for the
joy. Without Him there would be no Home. He is the reason for the
Home, the walls, windows and stairs. From the corner of the kitchen
to
the
top step on the fourth floor bedrooms, this Home is part of the
history and is now part of me..." |
